When I appeared
on AFV back in 2002, Tom Bergeron said I had the ability to make you
move. But little did he know that his humorous comment would actually
become an affirmation of truth for me nine years later.
From ‘Earth Wind & Fire’ to ‘Kool & The
Gang’ and ‘Brass Construction’, as well as many
other classic soul artists from the 70s and 80s were indeed inspiration
at it’s finest. But the works of production duo ‘Jimmy
Jam’ and ‘Terry Lewis’ were all the rave in the
80s. However, my initial and greatest musical influences came from
a band called ‘Apple Jam’ founded by my brothers ‘Perry’
and ‘Eddie’ with my sister ‘Rebena’ as the
lead vocalist. When I was a child, mom used to put me down to bed
at 7 o’clock every evening. And while I was in the bed, all
I could hear was ‘Apple Jam’ funkn down in the basement.
Those are days I’ll never forget.
My proudest moment was hearing the promo I did for the Hot97 morning
show with Ed, Lisa and Dre on the radio. It was a moment filled with
a total blast of excitement.
Since I’m not a performing artist, my main objective is to continue
writing songs that will inspire emotional happiness in people who
hear my music. |
